other way around. the small top spring is softer and is what controls ride height and minor dips while driving. the secondary, longer spring is stiffer and is what absorbs bumps and jumps.
they're nice shocks - i had a set for about a year. the prices always were crazy - i bought my set brand new for $110, which at the time i thought was crazy. now a used set on feebay goes way over that.
