And then, there is the safety aspect of lipos. Sure, they have come a long way and rarely explode/flame, but these same people don't want to take a chance. They could get A123s, but those are heavier and use a different charge profile, which is further confusing for some.

The exploding thing was made by companies who only had NiCad and nimh batteries and they saw what lithium based batteries could do and they were afraid to be put out of business. Remember Trinity's ad on brushless!!!! Those videos didn't show the 12V lead acid battery set away from the lithium battery. Just the other day I messed up on my soldering job and put the black wire on the positive side of the deans and when I went to plug my 2 5S 4900mAh TP on my BBP truck, it shorted. Nothing happened. Actually my Dean plugs got fried a bit.
