Yeah, especially on the Neus. On the XL, I would never go over 33-35k rpm. 30k is a wee on the low side, but doable.

I figure nitro motors spin anywhere between 35-45k rpm, so if a BL motor can spin close to that, the truck will have the high speed AND diff grinding torque that a nitro simply cannot match.

Also, using more common "nitro" gearing helps pinion selection. You can only gear so high (or low) before getting a pinion that'll work is a PITA.
