I wonder if it would be economically feasible for the smaller controllers (~25A) to incorporate a bucking switching regulator. This would allow use of 6s+ lipo and it would bring the input voltage down to 3s-4s levels. The batteries would then be cheaper since the battery current would be much lower. Not sure if the expense of the added circuits would outweigh the cost savings of the cheaper lipos...
