I just switched to 3.5s on my 8XL from direct soldered wires to use the motor for another application, when I put it back in the buggy I noticed no difference in coging at all.

There are quality differences between various makes of both 3.5 mm which I use for motors and 4mm which I use for batterys (I have some of both that I wont ever use) I've never had normal basket type bullets loosen, but for those that have or worry about them doing so I have seen 3.5mm and 4mm available with prongs like 5.5mm/6mm instead of baskets.
