The winding scheme of the motor is ABCABC with 8 magnetic poles I believe. It gives a 4:1 "geardown" and 4 times the commutation cycles per revolution. I am not surprised that they system works for you, and I bet your runtime will be obnoxiously long. When tooling along I find the amp draw is very low for outrunners, Once they get running the inertia seems to keep the amp spikes down or something.
