I use mechanical brakes... the ESC does have some kind of brakes.. Drag brakes or something.... I know it's rated for 100 Amps continuous.. but it's running in my Savage-X with a 7XL without any problems... since this esc is so cheap, I run low KV motors with high voltage to compensate for the 100A continuous drainage... so far, I fried only one.. I had a rock stuck inbetween the center diff and the chassis... but I kept on givin' her full throttle.... (it was at an apple festival.. so we had a big crowd).. the bigger the crowd, the heavier my finger gets.. I don't know why...
I honestly like mechanical brakes, since most of my conversions are stock nitro -----> brushless.... you don't need motor brakes or reverse.... it's all built onto the tranny...

anyways.. I've used the ESC, and it works great... !
