Well, Toby, why don't we start with a budget for the start of your project. This way, we can suggest things you will need in the order of importance and you can build as your wallet allows. The G-maxx stuff is a lot stronger than the stock stuff, and weighs the same or less in most cases. The 9918 controller and 9L motor suggested already will satisfy your appetite for power reliably and their are a bunch of other things to consider once the power is upgraded (diffs, tranny, driveshafts, servos, radio etc.). First, though, lets determine what your priorities are. The first upgrade most will recommend will be batteries. A good set or so of batteries will change the performance of your truck now, and ensure the best performance later (when upgrading to brushless power). Next, wheels and tires should be considered. the stock wheel/tire setup is heavy and gets poor traction. This is an area that can potentially save a pound or so of weight and increase runtime and traction at the same time. Then, we can worry about the chassis, suspension, servos, motor/controller. Diffs are up high on the list as soon as you get brushless power, as well as cvds.
