Actually there not truly backwards compatible. I think the 60 gig, which is hard to get, is the only one thats fully backwards compatible. I think the 40 isn't at all.

I'd say stick with the 360. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with mine. Pretty much everybody I know who has both, likes the 360 way more. I was gonna get one, but mostly for Gran Turismo 5 and Blu-Ray.
