not to take away from the forum here at all, but I ran Xray for quite a while and the Xray forum has a link up top for setup sheets and such for drivers. you can also input your own setups and save them on the site.... look at what the big guns are running. they race more than most people and have tried and tested pretty well every part available and most combos. it's always a good starting point. the kit suggestions, for buggies anyway, have euro based setups and don't work very well in the North American tracks.

the Xray line is about the most adjustable rc you can own and if you are new to setups, you can get lost chasing that setup, hell been there done that. you can search the setups by area and check what guys have been using at tracks you currently run at, or any you know the conditions are close to what you will run, and compare a few setups. you'll find these guys have all pretty close.use one of those to start and you'll enjoy the truggy even more. Xray gear is great.
