I ran a MatrixTR all last summer in its nitro form and its a pretty tough truck. All trucks have a few necessary upgrades and the ones for the MatrixTR are the arm for the steering servo saver needs to be upgraded to the aluminum one. This is always the first part to break. The only other item that I found it necessary to upgrade was the steering knuckles. The stock silver cast aluminum knuckels tend to strip the screw holes out real easy. I got the CEN macined aluminum ones but the Kyosho knuckles also fit and so do the KingHeads Kyosho knuckels.
I am planning to do a brushless conversion on this before spring, but right now I am waiting for the MMM to be released. This is gonna be my test platform.
Only downside to the matrix truggy conversion is nobody makes a bolt in motor mount for it. The kyosho mount in the RCM store fits the buggy almost pefect. It just requires you replace the other center diff upright with the kyosho one and then its a direct bolt in. The truggy however is not quite as simple because those funky chassis braces tha go over the top need to be supported so the center dif mount needs to be extra tall.
Anyway. It will take a little effort to come up with something that will work.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
