Well, the new emaxx is pretty much bullet proofed from the get go, but the diffs may prove the weak link still when you start feeding it some proper BL power. The Revo platform is a much better racer and basher really, no doubt about it, and the mods required to the emaxx tranny for the G3 chassis are very simple to perform. As for the revo diffs, fitting an alloy cup and maybe case too is very simple, just a matter of transplanting parts in truth.
The problem with the new emaxx is the suspension setup is limited in terms of travel and durability, and the bulkheads break too easily if you just bump into posts and rocks etc. The revo however is a much more durable and able design- you wont be dissapointed. upgrade things as you break them, so dont worry about the diffs until they go crunch, and the rest is solid so no worries there really.
