I have a few hacker motors (12 or so!) and think that they are great motors. They are definately a big step up from a feigao. Not sure if they are as good as a neu or lehner motor. I have a plett maximum, and have been happy with its performance, plus it stays very cool too.
I do not think that the hacker c50 9l motor is worth $285 though. A feiao l can is about 60 bucks, and hacker motors can be found used for around 100 bucks. They are definately worth it for 100 bucks, but I am sure that if I had to buy a motor brand new it would be a neu or lehner. Neu seem to be the best bet as they are made in the US and have decent service from what I hear.
I have a feeling some of the other members will chime in and tell you that the hacker motors are not as good as the Neu motors. I am sure that they are right, and the prices are soo close that the hacker ends up being too expensive.
I will say that the hacker motors work well with the mm, where as the neu motors may have some issues, depending on gearing and vehicle weight.
