Speaking with Dan from RCProductDesigns here is what he said:

"The RC8 uses a modified IF148 46T spur. I do the Mods then you do some changes in the shimming on the gears in the inside of the diff."

He also sells the spurs modified already. Not sure what shimming is done different in the diffs, but he probably wouldn't have a problem saying what.
