Pfft I think lipo explosions are way over rated. I just chuck em in the spares box with everything else. Sometimes I leave them in the car unplugged. I've never had a decent quality cell explode and burn down or destroy my house, car, life, or anything in it. I've never even had one fail in any way. Just keep them balanced, dont over charge or over discharge, and don't short them. Same rules for any battery.

Sure I've had cheap chinese made (5 for $10) lipo cells swell up when I give them a hard time, but that is why they in those non rigid bags. they're made especially to expand. I think the bad explosion problem was when they were in rigid steel cases, so when the vent you get enormous pressure build up before the vessel fails. With the soft cases you can see when it starts venting, check it in some salt water over night to safetly disable the battery then dispose of it thoughtfully.
