Never had a maxx to regret selling, but jhautz hits the nail on the head. Getting all that shiny Al on there and then not running it because it looks oh-so-pretty makes no sense.
Getting something that is basically BL-worthy (diffs/chassis/suspension/tranny/etc) and adding just the necessary conversion parts makes much more sense IMO. Not to mention that if things do break, the chances of finding a quick replacement at your LHS is much greater...
This was probably the primary reason for the second version of my e-revo. The maxx tranny design with all the customization in v1 made it a PITA to replace when things broke. V2 uses mostly stock parts so replacement parts are easy to find. The few custom things that are on there are fairly simple to re-make if needed...
