Or did you have the water boiling/simmering the whole time that the wheels were soaking in the solution.

I have one old large pot that I used. Boiled water on the stove & then turned off, poured the dye in very carefully, stirred, added wheels very slowly to the mix. Let them soak for 1 hour. Carefully removed them and then rinsed in clean cold water.

The wabash had to be done 2 at a time. So remember how long they soak and use similiar amount of dye for each soak so the color will be consistent from wheel to wheel. I was able to do all 4 2.2 wheels at one time.

I was concerned if the wheels boiled or even simmered for a long time that it would distort or soften the wheel's.
