To follow up with happywing's comments, these are good questions.
There are about 20 of us in the area with converted buggies and 4 Truggies including happywings.
All are used racing. We all have the same powertrain and we all think it is perfect for racing.
Too powerfull means to me that you have a lot of trigger control to work out. Only one of the guys drove outdoors before the winter sent us indoors and he tq'ed against a lot of good nitro truggy guys without ever driving a truggy before.
The temps all held well and the motor didn't feel strained.
For bashing, you could use anything because there is nothing to compete.
Racing is a different story and as the summer goes on this year we will see more and more converted truggies. This will be the 3rd year outdoors with the buggy and the 1st year outdoors for the truggy. The winter with the truggy was better than the all the buggy runs.
We all use the 1515 1.5 D, 4s with a 10T to 12T pinion. Overall outdoors with the enerland 4s 5000 we can expect a good 15 minutes in a "racing" condition.
