Latest build here, first some background on my ideas. So most people seem to think that a L can size motor can move a buggy around fine. I agree, and also wanted to a 6s lipo powered setup. And I also have a few 1600kv motors laying around. So I looked for a decent test bed, and ended up with a well used hyper 8. $130 shipped, and it already had the rcm motor mount. Talk about a good deal.
So I picked up a pair of flightpower 2170 3s 25c lipos. My thought process is that the 2170 packs are good for about 55amps constant, and 1200 watts. I had a MBX buggy with a 7xl and 4s, and it pulled about 1300 watt peaks. So I figured the pair of 2170 in series would be ok.
I also had a quark 65 roadster hanging around. Now I am sure that many will say it is a bit small. and may not be able to handle 6s. Well it seems fine so far. I added a novak 2700 cap, and am running a ccbec with the quark internal bec disabled.
First batch of tests will be with an Align 600l. 1620kv, and is a hybrid outrunner/inrunner design. Power output is very smooth, and temps were very good in the first 15min test. I would have run till the lvc kicked in, but I do not have a decent battery tray made up yet! My next tests will be with a hacker b50 15l.
Heres some pics: And yes I really like zipties!.
Check out the super low cg!
