I was in a motorcycle accident many years ago, while I was playing in the band. I was thrown 42 feet through the air and impacted into the side of the mountain. It was all jagged rocks. I was knocked out. Ruptured kidney, bit the tip of my toungue off, big hole in my helmet, broken left leg, right leg had been cut right around my knee almost all the way around and went down past my ankle. Other small injuries. It cut all the nerves in my leg. I was told I'd never walk properly again. For 6 months I had that pins and needles feeling when you fall asleep with your leg hanging over the end of a couch or something. I had to learn to walk again with this floppy limb.... well I just retired from hockey as a goalie, so I guess the knee turned out pretty good after all. I still have no feeling in my leg and I can tell when it's going to snow.
You just need to be diligent in rehab and believe you will heal. I took a beating in hockey and had many injuries, even to that same leg (I played Div 1 for many of those years) and the only injuries that really bothers me in my old age now is my ankle, and I never even went to the doc when I busted that, so it's my own fault.
