1. Dabid (member on the forums here) does/did (not sure which!) run the Dominator center slipper. He said that it didn't really slip at all. Not having a center diff will make your turning into the corners suffer a little. BUT, for electric, a slipper clutch is a good investment. I made a custom one for my 1/8 buggy using Revo slipper components. It slips, and is adjustable. Also, I can use Monster GT spur gears on it.
2. The BigMaxximum will require at minimum the Schulze 18.97. This setup will run you about $650. If you want something with similar power for cheaper, then go with a Feigao 7XL and a Warrior 9920. This setup only costs $290. It is just as powerful as the BigMaxximum, but less than half the price! And then you wouldn't have to worry about a $350 controller going up in smoke (the 18.97).
3. The pinion you use depends on the cell count. 12 cells (or 4s Lipo) is usually standard for 1/8 buggies, and so a 13-14t pinion should work.
