The 8L is not the ideal motor, no - but it's the one I already have, and it powered my Hyper 7 conversion and the MGT for a while. It definitely works, but doesn't fit into the conventional wisdom of the right motor for the right job. I figure 4s may be too much for it, and I do also have 3s to work with, and I know neither may be good with the 8L as a permanent solution for the buggy, which is why I said I may end up with a different motor.
I try to use what I have first and post relevant information for others to use and learn from. :)

It's definitely in the "Ultra" series, and it does look like a cross between the LX and MBX.
I have an Ultra MBX Pro and the only differences I can see in coolhandcountry's picture is that his has a lay-down steering servo and the pillow ball suspension. The lay-down servo is standard on the LX while PBS is standard on a couple of the MBX models (not mine).
Either way, most parts will be swappable :)
