differences between Neu Y and delta winds - 05.07.2008, 02:11 AM

OK, I need to see if i understand how the type of wind effects the neu motors. I will use the 1515 motors, as my example and for questions.I am going to use the 2.5d (1700kv) and the 1y (1500kv) as they are closest in kv and size. Ok, From what i have read, they Y config, is 1.73 times less RPM, but 1.73 times more torque than the Delta wind. If this is so, then will the 1y have more overall power than the 2.5d, even with the close KV numbers? This is so i can see, if i understand How these motors work and to see where my next purchase will go.

The reason i want to know, is I'm planning a racer revo for next year. Racing is out this year due to a move, so i got time to plan and buy right. I need a setup that will pull mid 30's to 40 mph and run for at least 25 minutes (hoping for 30+) I am leaning towards a 1512/ 2.5d (about 2000kv) But am wondering if a Y wind in the same kv would be better. Is there anyone with experience with both Y and D winds? Which could pull a taller gear (Emaxx tranny with 18/51 for finned right now) I am running 1/8 buggy diffs if that helps.
Thanks for any info and if i'm wrong in my thoughts above, Please set me straight

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
