So the wye only fires two phases as opposed to three for the delta? It would certainly make sense that it would be a more efficient design, even if only marginally.
Ok then, I want a 1512 to run in my G2R revo. Going by what i want and looking at the specs, I think either the 1.5y (1900kv) or the 2.5d(2000kv) or the 2D (2600kv) are the most logical choices. What are people's experiences with each motor, in a 9.5 to 10 pound Monstar truck with 4s lipo? I know the 2D(2600kv might be a bad choice But its the next step up in KV on mikes inventory
For reference, The current setup in the G2R is a 1515/2.5d/f (1700kv) with a quark 125, Emaxx trannyw/gorilla half tranny conversion, 1/8 buggy diffs and strobe w/ 20/51 gearing. I'd rather keep the finned can, but will go smooth if needed for better gearing. Right now, its a beast on 5s, almost too much to handle on the track and no heat issues. With 4s its still snappy but right about the low 30's. I considered taller gearing on the 1515, but almost afraid, I'll have to go too far to see results
I just did some calculations on my setup, I need a 25 tooth pinion to go 35 mph, with the 1515/2.5d. On the 1512/2.5d i can get 34.8MPH on the gearing i got right now. Would the 1512 pull the 20/51? Or would i be better off getting a 2500KV motor and gearing down a bit?
Once again, thanks for the info, its a huge help
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
