Yeah, sounds like a line to me too. A taller heatsink with less casing around it would be almost as good as an enlosed design with a fan (if placed right). Would also allow easier temp readings.
If the ESC "will fail" without the fan, I don't want it. So, for those who have already had fan failures, how many of those ESC failed?
