I Don't own a buggy but they are known for there durability especially over monster trucks(and from what i hear xrays buggy's are one of the most durable). as for the shock i think it is because you are not use to the smaller type car yet. once you get it running and get a feel for it you might like it better. It is just a different kind of style that is all and it is mainly used for the track. hope i helped
