im currently running a 7xl 24/68 4s= 40mph , if i ran the 9xl geared 24/54 4s= 40mph, would it run cooler than my 7xl?

At top speed...the 9xl SHOULD run cooler than your 7xl set up due to lower motor rpm. The problem is cogging at low speeds. A 54/24 is only a 2.25 to 1 spur/pinion ratio..which i think is kinda rough on a 2 pole motor/ESC when trying to get going. Now the 5cell running 65/24 seems like a better option, provided there is some cooling (heatsink etc). The motor will spin at about 33000 rpm which is on the higher end for those
but still do-able.
