For motor and ESC, it is best to try and stay below about 165*F to 170*F. Of course, it is possible that they will get hotter than that after a hard run, but if you keep them below that temperature, thats a good running system.

12V also won't be adequate for a 1/8 truggy. You will need at minimum 12 cells or two 6 cell packs. And even that is barely enough. I'd recommend going to 14 NiMH or or a 4s lipo. Lipo being better of course... The 6xl and 9L will also run VERY hot. I'd recommend the 8xl or 9xl if you want to stay on the inexpensive side of motors. Of course though, with these low KV motors, you will need to run a higher voltage (like the packs I mentioned) in order to have decent speed.
