If you're just bashing and don't mind the weight, consider a roll cage. I have one from VGRacing (you can find them on ebay all the time) on my E-Maxx and it works great. The one they make specifically for the stock E-Maxx lets you change batteries pretty easily, too.
I haven't damaged a body on the E-Maxx since I stopped using them ;)
