I'm pretty sure you need to cut the BEC wire, that's what I did and it runs well. The ESC that is powering the BEC tends to run a little hotter than the other one.

I made the wiring modificatiions last night. I hate soldering those new Traxxas connectors
, but I'm getting better at it. I'm going to sneak out of the office and run to a nearby park to test it. Hope nobody comes looking for me
