I ended up with an end cap made out the cap off a gallon milk jug. Drilled three holes for the wires and wrapped the last 2mm of the motor with black cloth tape. Fits on pretty snug. If it melt it will be time to get a different motor on it. I tried the same thing on an ammo. I abused that poor thing but milk cap stayed on and didn't melt until I fried the motor. My brain doesn't process information correctly when I'm show boating. I found some aluminum tape for heating/cooling duct work. I put a piece of that on for the front.
Thanks for the dog bone tip. I appreciate it. I'm putting some trx big bores on it for shocks. Had some difficulty with the stock tires/rims. It seemed to bind up going forward. Felt like a hard drag brake. Going backward it would roll a long ways after letting off the throttle. I might of had them to tight. I'm playing with some badlands and mashers from my traxxas collection on it now. Using those hexes don't have the drag problem anymore.
How about the steering? Any mods to tighten it? Different bellcrank or something? Any other tips would be appreciated also.
