Does the spur gear go wider than the motor mount? Thats what it looks like in the picture... I just noticed it because usually his motor mounts are just a touch wider than the spur gear, so that the battery tray can be as close as possible and it looks like you have quite a bit of extra room to push the battery a little closer toward the center.
