hi

in my bl savage conversions i always used the plastic spur. i think i shredded only one or two the last five years.

i did different savage mods to make it hold up bl power in the long run. i know for many of you this is all old news.

- transmission fixed in 1st gear with this shaft. still plenty of gearing options with spur (47-53t) and pinion (9t-25t).

- diffs
trimmed 43t to use bigger bearings. now i would use those hardened black ones from hpi.

use other diff cups (kyosho IF103) or trimmed alu cups to use bigger bearings

trimmed the diff outdrives to use additional bearings. now one can use the bigger ones from hpi from the xl version.

use those little slider plates inside the diff cup.

- more beefy dogbones

the 'philosophy' behind the mods was to make the 'core' (transmission, diffs etc) as beefy as possible and leave the 'periphery' (wishbones, shock towers, roll cage etc) as flexible as possible. the 'core-periphery' principle is what i follow for bashers. 'racing' may be another story. however i wouldn't choose a monster truck for racing anyway.

bye
