Well I'm on a roll. I really hope that the early failures are just manufacturing defects.
1) Configuration: FLM Forward tranny Savage, Neu 6s 20c 4900mah battery, Feigao 11xl 1516kv, Hitec 5955tg steering servo, Hitec digital high speed brake servo (can't remember number), Max size wheels, geared for 30mph in first and 40mph in second.
2) Mods: No mods on the MMMs
3) Run times: A few minutes
4) Driving style: So far sissy haven't had a chance to flog them, they don't last that long.
5) Story:
So I killed an MMMv1 had it repaired and killed it again. I have now killed two v2s as well. I can't complain because castle is sending me another one.
MMMv2 number 1
Died on the bench with the car propped up with out the wheels on. I was checking steering end points (all ready setup but I was checking), calibrating the esc and just checking the car over and it switched off. Gone.
I was running an eagle tree on it while it was on the bench and the highest amp spike I got was 10 amps or so. It was only that high because I think I applied a little bit of brake by hand once.
MMMv2 number 2
Installed and ran it with out the brake servo connected as the brake servo is the only thing running off the internal bec that hasn't been run in another car. Ran it round in front of the house for a few minutes and it worked fine.
Next night I put in a better brake servo and took it out for a bit of a test in front of the house, all was good. I then took it to a school parking lot where I would have a bit more space to wind it out. The car was insanely fast and having second gear kick in really late seemed to be working well. Was driving it around for a few minutes checking the temps every now and then. I stopped it (esc still on) and did a thorough check of all the temps servos, battery, wires, connectors, motor, MMM fan was off and everything was dead cold. Went to take off and the car switched off. Gone.
On this esc I didn't use the eagle tree as I wasn't sure if that was causing the problem and from my other runs it didn't seem to be pulling too many amps at least in first anyway.
Small Update: Castle has the best customer service ever. They are sending me a replacement and I am buying another 2 MMMs for spares. When the replacement gets here I will run it with an external bec.
Savage: FLM Conversion, 6s, MMM, CC 1520.
Mini-T Pro: Micro Pro 6800kv, Lipo, HS-81mg, Dirt Hawgs
M18MT: Quark 33A, Y22S 6000kv, FP 2s Lipo
LRP S8-BX: RC-M Conversion, Tekin RX8 B1600KV, 6S.
