The Rx8 will not likely be released in the next few months. It will be ready and being tested, but the housing mold will take 8-10 weeks and has not been started. We have our molds built right here in Idaho and mold the parts here as well.

The R1pro and Rspro are rated to 3s because of the BEC limits. The units actually work fine up to 5s or even 6s if you use a seperate BEC unit. WE added voltage cutoffs for these batteries in the latest software. Remember they were designed for 1/10 scale, but because they have such a huge pile of fets they have found a home in larger scales using higher voltages. With better heat removal they may continue to be a popular choice.

I hear you Lutach and agree in some engineering respects. However the Rx8 uses 30v fets and will only be rated to 6s batteries. We are fairly confident that any racing rules will be based on 4s batteries and that will be the standard. Some may use up to 6s, but beyond that there are other factors to consider like the chargers that are commonly available. All of the manufacurers appear to be headed towards this range. If you want decent prices and good racing we have to settle somewhere common. It is not up to use and this just where it looks like we are going as a industry.

We have also had many people suggest we leave the switching BEC out of the unit. Just like rockcrawling applications, it may make sense to keep the BEC seperate since it is a common failure point and kills the entire speedo. This allows easy changes on failed BEC units. Right now we do have a switching BEC in the design. The RSpro and R1pro do not have a switching BEC and fill the other market niche. We think we have it covered and now just have to get them on the shelf.
