When I ran it at 11.1V I measured about 190 degrees in the center of the fan. I think you will be ok at 6 volts. A 20 percent increase in rpm is not much. I was running them at 7.2v with no issues. If the question is are we shortening their life, then the answer is yes, but I think they will hold up for long enough at 6V.
