I agree with jayjay, it really should be mounted where the ESC isn't subject to that kind of abuse. Even if that shield is made of metal, a crash could bend it and hit the caps anyway. A falling/moving vehicle (even a Pede) landing on the ESC has enough inertia to crush all but the sturdies guards. And if you made it strong/thick enough, that would be reducing the heat dissipation properties.
