From someone who has recently cooked two new controllers using built in BEC within the specs, I HIGHLY recommend going with the UBEC right off the bat. On the connections, I say cover them all with shrink just to help prevent shorts. An ounce of prevention...

You're gonna love that Racer-X suspension -- I think my SuperMaxx handles better than my Revo!
