I'll save some trouble by declaring that I am unfamiliar with 5005 aluminum. However, I just looked up some information on it at
McMaster-Carr and it turns out 5005 is not suitable at all compared to 6061; it has poor hardness, has a lower yield strength than PVC, and is more difficult to machine than 6061.
