As Arct1k said, the badlands are great tires for bashing, they work on almost every surface.

Cleaning and relubing all of your ball bearings with synthetic oil is a good way to decrease resistance, and thus heat. Plus correctly shimming the diff gears and running good synthetic lube will also help, plus the diffs will last longer. These are relatively cheap things to do, but take alot of time and disassembly to do. Balancing your wheel/tires is good to do, as the truck will run smoother. Otherwise the erevo is a great platform, not much to really improve on IMO. Have fun and welcome to the forums!
