The fact that the motor is getting tones means things are working. However, I still question the radio EPA/trim settings, or the connection (a poor connection could allow enough power to beep the motor, but not enough to drive it).

If possible, I'd let someone else check it out; maybe they'll catch something you didn't. Does your LHS have people there knowledgable enough to do some decent troubleshooting? I would hate to see you send it in, just to get it back with an NPF sticker on it (no problem found).

Could be a legitimate problem, but it sure sounds fishy. BTW: I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, but we all have those forehead-slapping moments from time to time...
