To each their own but I tried the elektriclutch as well and direct drive is much better. The clutch acts somewhat like a slipper and reduce the current draw from your motor but eliminates most of the other advantages of an electric system (brakes & instant power). I'm also not really a fan of metal to metal pinion and spur. Metal to metal is fine in a sealed static transmission but not good where chassis flex is involved.

You'd be served well using between a 16-18T pinion and 51T spur.

I sold my 8ight-e a while ago but I still have an aluminum spur adapter for the 8ight that fits the ofna 51t plastic spur.
