Power is still pretty instant with the clutch, it just takes slight edge off when you take off and lets you have better traction, effectively making you faster which is exactly why it works so well on dirt race tracks. Again at times slower is faster.. expecially racing. If I were on carpet or asphalt I would go w/ the pinion to drive. PS this system is using mechanical brakes.. Which is a ton better than motor braking, not only for the motor and esc but it allows much better adjustment including front to rear.
