I too am a member on savage-central (buikpijn). The UE diffs are not for savage. they need about 2mm of shimms and there simple isnt enough meat left to get the cup tightened properly on the pinion. I also heard a person who used the savage 13 teeth with the UE ringgears, which is a nogo, because, you noticed it too, the gears of the UE's are helical cut, and the savage is a straight cut. in germany, you can buy a special modified savage gear, (ringgear) that fits the 8spiders. But it is not the inside of the diffs that are a concern, it are the pieces that plastic rubish that hold the entire diff.. a proper build savage diff, is simple as tough as the UE 8spiders. the material used in the 8spiders isnīt too good quality either. I know that twistedtoys did this savage-diff conversion, but i seriously doubt if that cup held on tight to his pinion.. He uses it on the fron of the truck. The rear gets a much bigger stress on it. Perhaps it is possible though, to make a 3/4th hole on it, so you have got some grip for the pin.. (as long it doesn't fall off, your okay right?! ;)

So far for the diffs;

now, back to the gearing;
automatic gears or fixed in one gear? what are you going to use.

You did use my excelsheet?
