I also use the RR spurs with hardened pinion gears. I use a thin coat of marine lube on my gears. I know a lot of guys will say that it just draws dirt into the gears, but it helps to quiet things down a lot. If it gets dirty I just clean it up and relube it again. You only need a tiny bit to make a huge difference. I use "Grim Racer" speed grease, which is a aqua marine gear grease that resists slinging so it stays on the gears. It is like snot. I picked up a couple of jars from T/H and I also use it in my tranny cases. It really is good stuff and it is cheap. Try it for yourself and then make a decision. It works great from my perspective.
