Have you considered getting the Kershaw Designs 700HO conversion? The single 700 conversion has about the same speed as stock but more torque and can be used with the stock ESC. You'll need a LVA (Low Voltage Alarm) for the lipos, but the stock ESC will run on 4s lipo. When it inevitably fries you can adapt a MM to run on 4s and continue to use that brushed motor. The 60mm Medusa is a good motor if you want to go BL, but the 700HO will do fine and are very cheap.
