Painting styrene shells isnt so bad- its just like painting a lexan shell, only on the outside! The beauty (as I found) is that if you cock-up, you can just go over the mistake, and start again- 300 grit sandpaper removes all sins...
I kinda prefer painting the outside really, as its much the same as normal painting- do the background first, then onto the details and highlights; working in reverse order like when doing lexan shells is very alien to me.
