DX3R/4PK users: what are you using for dead band? - 02.13.2009, 12:36 PM

My Spektrum DX3R has pretty high resolution (probably same for Futaba 4PK). It is used in a MMM neu 1515 1Y powered E-Revo using twin 7.4v LiPo's

My dead band was changed to 0.075 ms and it seems to work fine.

It was set for default but would oversteer/understeer so the truck fishtailed all over a dirt track. (A couple of other MMM settings were changed (timing down from 15 to 5, punch up 70 to 80, curved throttle instead of linear) along with a replaced cracked rear bulkhead).

Page 28 of the Castle Driver's Ed instruction manual:

You may adjust the neutral throttle “width” of the controller with this setting. Smaller values make the controller enter forward or brake/reverse with a smaller movement of your throttle trigger for finer control. Be careful, some transmitters offer better resolution than others, if your ESC will not respond to “Neutral” throttle, make this setting larger.
Setting 1: Large - 0.1500 ms
Setting 2: Normal - 0.1000 ms (Default)
Setting 3: Small - 0.0750 ms
Setting 4: Very Small - 0.0500 ms
Setting 5: Smallest - 0.0250 ms

Maybe I don't understand the "Be careful" statement, it seems that smaller settings will allow a very responsive radio control to the MMM. From my understanding larger settings would cause too much lag and result in oversteer/understeer and the smaller settings would be more fine tuned, but would need surgeon-like precision in driving.

Based on these very precise settings, what are fellow DX3R/4PK users have as their dead band MMM setting?
