It's not so much that the shock shafts are weak, it's more of a issue with the shock design. They are probably the strongest shafts on any shock and they don't bend on landings. What breaks the shafts is the spring retainer at the bottom of the shock. The retainer is so big and stiff that if it hits anything it has a lot of leverage over the shaft and it snaps the shaft. So the moral of the story is not to hit anything especially since that shock retainer sticks out in the gap between the wheel and the front bumper.
And my friend with the lst is just running the losi sway bars. I run the LST shocks on my savage.
