Since you already have the 8, I'd use that as the basis. 8th scale diffs and drivetrain will be durable, and the low CG of a buggy will definitely help handling.

If you want more clearance than larger tires and/or simply raising the chassis (via increasing arm/shock travel) will allow, how about using 8T arms and shocks? Don't know if they are interchangeable with the regular 8 stuff (at the bulks and knuckles), but something to look into.

Like skellyo said, gearing will have to be adjusted for larger tires...
